How anxiety affects me

I have had anxiety for years now and it is something that I feel should be spoke about more. It can affect a person in so many different ways. I know that it can hold me back from doing the most simple tasks. For example I find it really difficult making phone calls. It is such a simple thing but I get so nervous and uncomfortable at the thought of it. Working in a school I often have to make phone calls to parents, which isn’t easy for me but it has to be done. I almost have to psych myself up for it and recite what i’m going to say before I can make the call. All of this makes me feel so stupid because it is such a simple thing that a lot of people wouldn’t think twice about, but for me it’s so difficult. I often have to remind myself that a lot of people go through the same things I do. I think because anxiety isn’t spoke about very much I often don’t think that people understand what it feels like or how it can affect a person, but that is not the case.

This is one of the reasons I started this blog. To share my experiences with other people so they feel less alone and more understood. I think it is so important to talk about mental health.

With the lockdown the past year, I think that peoples focus has been on our physical health and keeping safe. I believe that the biggest impact has actually been on people’s mental health and that is just as important as their physical health.
